Word class/ parts of speech 


The fundamental building elements of every language are the parts of speech. They are the groups into which words are grouped according to the meanings and syntactic roles they play. In order to use words correctly and successfully in speaking and writing, we must have a solid understanding of the parts of speech. The primary speaking components in English are as follows:

Nouns are words that identify a specific person, place, object, or idea. Examples include a dog, a home, and love.

Pronoun: A word that replaces a noun is known as a pronoun. Those are: he, she, it, and they.


Adjective word that characterises or modifies a noun or pronoun is called an adjective. For instance, cheerful, green, and tall.

Verb Word that conveys an action or a state of being is a verb. Run, chant, and is as examples.

A verb, an adjective, or another phrase can be described or modified by an adverb. Fast, very, and well are a few examples.

Preposition: A preposition is a term that indicates how a noun or pronoun fits into the context of other words in a sentence. Those are: in, on, and at.

Conjunction: In a sentence, a conjunction is a term that joins words, phrases, or clauses. For instance, and, but, or.

An interjection is a word or phrase used to convey astonishment or emotion. Examples include yeah!, wow!, and ouch!.
